A letter to citizens of Zhangjiajie

By Tang Jiamao | Updated : Apr 08, 2020
Citizens,

It has been determined by the CPC Zhangjiajie City Committee and the People’s Government of Zhangjiajie City that the ninth and twelfth graders could return to school on April 7 and the rest students in middle schools and high schools could return to school on April 13. Students are required to go to school at different scheduled time to ensure safety and the specific school hours would be from 6:50 to 9:00 in the morning, from 4:30 to 6:00 in the afternoon and from 8:00 to 9:30 in the evening.

All citizens should pay attention to the school-related arrangements and abide by the following three suggestions in school run. Firstly, citizens are requested to bypass main roads and streets near schools, thus creating a favourable traffic environment for taxis, buses and private cars picking up or dropping off students. Secondly, citizens are requested not to gather around schools.

Specifically, motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles should not gather or occupy road space; citizens who are not students' parents should not park your vehicles at parking areas near schools; and you should not set up stalls in front of school gates to avoid traffic congestion. Thirdly, citizens should organize your time reasonably by avoiding peak hours of school and not take the same bus or taxi with students. At the same time, drivers should wait patiently for students to get through when passing schools to ensure students’ safety.

Meanwhile, parents should cooperate with schools and abide by the following three suggestions in school run. Firstly, parents should directly take your children home after school and protect them and yourselves by wearing masks outdoor and not going to crowded or airless places. Secondly, parents should leave school right away after you drop off or pick up your children and not stay and talk with others to avoid gathering. Thirdly, parents are advised to take your children to school and home by car or on foot and try to avoid public transportation means. And out of concern for traffic security, you should forbid your children from riding bicycles or motorbikes to school and home.

We believe that schools and students can be well protected against the COVID-19 with our joint efforts.
