On the morning of June 5, the Parent-Child Rice Planting Game was held in the Ecological Square of Huanglong Cave Scenic Area in Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie.
June 5 is the Grain in Ear on Chinese lunar calendar and the traditional rice planting season in Zhangjiajie. At the Parent-Child Rice Planting Game, more than 20 groups of families competed in the rice planting, fish catching and rice planting quiz.
“This fun game is a great way to educate children by getting them close to nature and experiencing country life. By working in the fields, the children can be aware of the sweat and toil behind and thus have a greater respect for labor,” said a parent. The activity not only educated the children while having fun, but also enhanced the parent-child relationship by working together.
Ecological Field Garden is the main scenery of Huanglong Cave Ecological Square, covering an area of about 30 mu (two hectares), where local crops such as rape, rice, sunflower and seasonal vegetables are planted all year round. In addition to showing the local farming culture to Chinese and foreign tourists, it is also a popular educational base for primary and secondary school students to study rice culture.
