By Zuo Yan | Updated : Jul 21, 2021

Photos taken at 6:00 p.m. on July 19 show that the sun sends out a beam of golden light through the thick dark clouds over Wulei Mountain in Cili County, Hunan Province, forming a magnificent Tyndall effect.

The "Tyndall effect" was discovered in 1869 by the British scientist Tyndall. In physics, the "Tyndall effect" is also called the "Tyndall phenomenon", which refers to a beam of light scattering by particles in a colloid or in a very fine suspension like fog, smoke and dust.
