In this National Day holiday, a volunteer doctor team from Zhangjiajie People’s Hospital caught the attention of tourists as they were on patrol in the scenic spot of Golden Whip Stream and sang a popular songs adapted by themselves. Many tourists took photos of them and children joined in them. A short video recording this scene went viral on social platforms. This pioneering service won applause from the public and was recognized by tourists as well.

These “tourist doctors”, equipped with first aid kits, megaphones and team flags, can be seen at major scenic areas in Zhangjiajie, who provide tourists with health consultation, medical assistance, first-aid and other health services to ensure safe travel for tourists in peak time.

During the National Day holiday, 150 medical staff in 12 volunteer medical teams provided health consultations to 1,059 tourists, medical assistance to 475 people and green transfer channels were opened 13 times. Five tourists were treated through the green channel, and 46 tourists were guided to seek medical treatment in the hospital.

"In accordance with previous practice, we recruit medical staff in the hospital to set up a number of volunteer medical teams at scenic spots and traffic arteries, so as to protect tourists’ travel safety with more convenient, accurate and effective services," the head of Zhangjiajie People's Hospital said.

"Due to the last epidemic, all scenic areas in Zhangjiajie had been closed, which is undoubtedly a heavy hit to this tourist city. What we can do is to make tourists feel at ease and comfortable through our own professional knowledge," said Xiong Tinggang, chief physician and Party secretary of Zhangjiajie People's Hospital 24th Party Branch.

Hearing that the volunteer activity launched again, Xiong Tinggang, who has several years of this volunteer service experience, signed up again to contribute to the tourism recovery of Zhangjiajie with action.
