Located in the northern part of Wulingyuan Area, Tianzi Mountain Scenic Area is close to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Suoxi Valley. It covers an area of 67 square kilometers and the maximum altitude is 1,262.5 meters.

It was named after the ancient Tujia ethnic group leader Xiang Tiankun, who claimed to be Tianzi, which means the King in Chinese. The mountain is in the peak of its evolution, and has typical peak forest views. In the area there are six smaller scenic spots including Shijiayan, Chapanta, the Old Yard and Huanglong Spring.
