Sixth Wulingyuan Aerial Photography Competition kicks off

Recently, the sixth Aerial Photography Competition was officially launched for photographers from home and abroad.

The competition will solicit works from November 26, 2022 to November 25, 2023. Both pictures and videos about natural scenery, tourism development, urban construction, local customs and beautiful villages in the Wulingyuan District can be submitted.

The competition has 40 awards in two categories of aerial photography and video, including gold, silver, bronze and excellence awards, and a total prize of 135,000 yuan.

Forty finalists will also receive two bottles of “Wulingyuan Wine”. The competition poses new challenges for photographers in terms of the use of aerial filming camera, post-editing skills, creative techniques and shooting perspectives.

Members of the China Photographers Association and domestic provincial photographers associations, full-time video journalists from the media above the municipal level can apply for entry cards.

During the competition period, with the entry card and ID card, photographers can enjoy free and unlimited access to Wulingyuan Scenic Area and others.

The free scenic areas and transportation vehicles are as follows: Zhangjiajie Wuling Yuan Scenic Area (Zhangjiajie National Forest Park), Huanglong Cave Scenic Area, Baofeng Lake Scenic Area, World Geopark Museum; Tianzi Mountain Ropeway, Huangswhi Stockaded Village Ropeway, Yangjiajie Ropeway, Bailong Ealavator, Environmental Protection Passenger Car, Ten-Mile Gallery Sightseeing Tram, Tianzi Mountain Air Field Electric Bike.

Since 2016, five consecutive aerial photography competitions have been successfully held. With the help of a new perspective of UAVs, it shows the beauty of the peak forests in the world natural heritage site to the people, so that more people can enjoy Zhangjiajie’s landscape.

More than 30,000 photographers from all over the country have participated, and more than 50,000 photos and videos have been received. The holding of the competition not only made Wulingyuan become the preferred place for aerial photography creation and UAV training, but also attracted the first national scenic area’s Dajiang Authorized Experience store to settle here successfully.

Wulingyuan is awarded the “most beautiful aerial photography place in China” and the first “Dajiang demonstration travel place for aerial photography” in the national mountain scenic area.

From a bird’s eye view, tourists can enjoy the endless beauty of mountains and forests. Wulingyuan is the cradle of Zhangjiajie tourism and the bright pearl of Hunan tourism. Zhangjiajie has China’s first national forest park, China’s first batch of world natural heritage sites, the world’s first batch of world geological parks, China’s first batch of 5A-level tourist scenic areas, and the national civilized scenic areas. Zhangjiajie is reputed as “enlarged bonsai and miniature fairyland”.
